The
Conference Dinner will be held at the Pousada de
Santa Marinha, Guimarães, on Wednesday evening.
The
majestic Pousada de Santa Marinha is located near the
historical centre of Guimarães. It is a former XII
Century Augustin Monastery, which after being rebuilt
and restored, received the National Architectural Prize
in 1985.
This
historic luxury hotel has unique charming points, like
the superb gardens, to be counted among the best
Portuguese’s gardens, a magnificent stone staircase and
an artificial lake can be found among the trees.
The rich
Portuguese glazed tiles, the cloisters, the terraces
over the city will, together with the magnificent
cuisine and wines, make you wish to stay for a very long
time.

OPTION 1 – OPORTO
PANORAMIC INCLUDING VISIT TO THE PORTO WINE
CELLARS (Half – day )
Around 14.00h, departure to the Minho
University destination Porto for a panoramic
visit, which will provide a global idea of
Porto, pointing out the difference between
the historical centre and the modern part of
the town. This tour will pass by the most
important Monuments in the town, as the
Palácio de Cristal, Torre dos Clérigos,
Palácio da Bolsa, and the Igreja of S.
Francisco giving a Panoramic of the
Historical Centre of Porto, with a stop at
the Ribeira quay and free time to enjoy the
typical streets of this area of the city.
After this short stop, the tour will proceed
for a visit to the Porto Wine Cellars where
you can have a taste of this wine.
Return to Braga.

TO GUIMARÃES (half-day)
Around 14.00h, departure to the Minho
University, towards Guimarães.
As the first capital of Portugal and
birthplace of the nation's first king,
Guimarães is one of the country's most
historic cities, and its World Heritage
medieval streets with well-preserved
monuments make it one of the most attractive
places to visit in Portugal.
Guimarães is the European Capital of
Culture 2012.
This tour includes a visit to the Paço dos
Duques near the Guimarães Castle and guided
walking tour through the Historical Centre
down the medieval street of Santa Maria
famous for the modest old houses with wooden
balconies. Time to admire the Igreja de N.
Senhora da Oliveira of pre- Romanic origin,
within an harmonious urban setting.
Return to the town of Braga, end of the
Tour.

TO PONTE DE LIMA AND VIANA DO CASTELO (Half
– Day)
Around 14.00h, departure to the Minho
University, for a visit to the oldest
village of Portugal (Ponte de Lima) and
the town of Viana do Castelo.
The first stop will be at Ponte de Lima,
land full of history, of art and natural
beauty, of rusticity and important
buildings with an cultural-historical
itinerary and famous for its Manors.
Walking visit to the Historical Centre
of the town. Free time for personal
activities.
The tour will proceed direction Viana do
Castelo, founded in 1258 by D. Afonso
III, and known by its embroideries,
jewels and folklore. Visiting the town
is knowing a life museum of history.
Visit to Monte de Santa Luzia. Free time
to visit the church and to enjoy the
magnificent view that we can have from
this place. Walking visit to the
historical centre of the town. Return to
Braga, end of the Tour.

a visit and wine tasting in an estate among

in the region.
The tour will continue along the Douro
Valley - direction Braga – we will have an
unique scenery with magnificent landscapes
and terraces in the winegrowing Douro that
will give us the opportunity of seeing with
more detail these unique landscapes of the

OPTION 5 – TOUR TO
GERÊS (Half - Day)
Around 14.00h, departure to Minho
University, for a visit to the National Parc
of Peneda Gerês.
The first stop,will be at Caldas and Termas
do Gerês where there will be the opportunity
to buy typical souvenirs from that region.
After this stop we will make a circuit for
more or less two hours. This circuit will
show some of the most emblematic spots of
the park showing us the emotions and charm
that this National Park has to offer.
At the end of the circuit return to Braga.
